On November 8, 2007, the National University of Mongolia awarded the Prof. Choi. Lubsangjab Gold Medal to PhDr. Alena Oberfalzerová, PhD. for her monograph Metaphors and Nomads . This year was the first time that a committee of Mongolian academics and researchers decided to grant this prize to a foreign Mongolist. As concerns the book for which the prize was awarded, the committee appreciated the author s focus on spoken language and communication, her field-work among the Mongolian nomads, and a new approach to the interpretation of Mongolian culture, especially its oral tradition. --National University of MongoliaThe aim of this book is to help to reveal the system of metaphorical expression of Mongolian nomads against the background of their culture, to describe the ways of transferring meanings and creating images, to find their interconnections, and to put them into the mongolian cultural context.
